Target group: 250 students aged 11 – 15 years and 50 teachers

Priorities:

  • Developing basic and transversal skills using innovative methods;

  • Supporting schools to tackle early school leaving (ESL) and disadvantage as well as to address all students from the lowest to the highest end of academic spectrum

Students will develop basic and transversal skills using innovative methods. They will learn new ways to collect, generalize and process the information and with the project  their motivation of life-long learning will increase by doing interesting activities and schools will improve their strategies of preventing ESL and help disadvantage students to achieve their potential. All students have equal chances to develop their skills and competences to achieve their potential, even though they do not have good financial situation or they have learning disabilities. This project gives them the opportunities to do all these during transnational meetings (5 learning/ teaching/ training meetings).

Developing teachers' innovative methods by collaboration with their colleagues from other countries will help to stimulate students' interest for learning through enjoyable activities. Teachers will learn about and develop/increase their CLIL (content and language integrated learning) skills, will also contribute to the development of the European dimension in their schools, improve their managing skills, enabling them to organize European programs in the future with higher expertise and greater confidence.

Learning activities

Learning activities will fulfill the main objectives:

- develop students ’interest for scientific and cultural activities;

All activities are to arouse students’ interest- the topic is from their daily life- seasons and weather, traditions. Students will make more efforts to do even those tasks they don't like to do at school. They will search for different sources of information and do some materials according their personal learning style which they could not find in usual activities in school (taking photos, videotape and audiotape, searching the internet), they will be free to experience and discover in different manners , meet science and cultural personalities from other countries with different scientific views. They will develop more skills needed in their future labor, like: planning (settle objectives of an activity, search for resources, search for monitoring and evaluating instruments, like this project does), working on a multicultural team (all partners have to collaborate, to tolerate the others' ideas, manage the conflictual situations, support your friends, make decisions together), develop their European Citizen feelings.

- improve pupils' results of learning by adopting multi- and transdisciplinar techniques and strategies learned and shared with the pupils and teachers from different educational systems on transnational meetings (workshops, seminars, opened lessons).

Starting with seasons and weather topics (Natural Sciencies) and traditions (culture), the activities propose tasks from different curricular areas- Mathematics and natural sciences, Man and society, Language and communication. Tasks are to use modern techniques- portfolio, journal of activity, map minding, brainstorming,  learning by doing and oudoor activities.

Lifelong learning is promoted. Students’ self-esteem and trust in their personal future will also improve and they will try not to leave earlier school. The activities will develop interest and skills for a future job in an European area. We will use Europass.

- improve linguistic skills and develop an European linguistic consciousness using different languages;

Improving English skills in direct learning situations (reading, writing, speaking) will help pupils both to get better marks at school and to use resources (documents, books etc.) in English to learn new things  they could not learn by using their native language, as a transversal skill.

Students will speak in English and other participant languages during meetings, chat or using Skype and playing drama; they will improve verbal fluency, they will activate more of their passive vocabulary and increase the confidence in their linguistic skills.  They will also improve their written way of expressing by making a brief dictionary on weather which can help them speak with their partners or during other projects. They will develop an European community in this project.

- discover and use the ICT instruments;

Students and teachers will search for and use websites, email, chat, Skype, Freedcamp platform, online dictionaries, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint or Photoshop, they will post materials on different websites (ScienceTube, Project's site);

- promote the national identity, tolerance, cultural and social integration in the European community;

Students will present their countries, cities, national traditions and in the mean time they will learn from their partners about cultures using authentic materials, they will make friends during this project and after, in a multicultural dialog, they will discover better countries during visits.

- practice group work developing multicultural collaboration

All activities involve individual and more team work, pupils from different cultures and different backgrounds get the same objectives and tasks. They will work together to achieve the final results. Their work will also be evaluated individually and in a team.
